KATHMANDU: A 46-year-old pedestrian was killed after an oxygen cylinder exploded inside a moving vehicle in Kathmandu’s Makalbari area on Friday.
The victim, Bishnu Thapa of Makalbari, was struck by shrapnel from the exploding cylinder while walking along the street.
According to District Police Range Kathmandu, Thapa sustained critical injuries from the blast. He was taken to Nepal Medical College in Jorpati for emergency treatment but died while receiving medical care.
Police from the Bouddha Police Circle have launched an investigation to determine what caused the oxygen cylinder to explode.
