BHOJPUR: The Temkemaiyung Rural Municipality in Bhojpur district has endorsed the ‘Community-Based Tourism Policy-2026’ to promote the sustainable development of the 80-km Mundum Trail and other tourism destinations.
Rural Municipality Chairperson Saroj Basnet shared that the policy aims to ensure the planned development, infrastructure expansion and promotion of the Mundum Trail alongside other sites with tourism potential.
Basnet said that the initiative is expected to help identify, conserve and promote local attractions while creating employment opportunities at the community level.
To support tourism-related local enterprises, the rural municipal assembly also passed a bill regulating the production, sale and management of locally produced alcoholic beverages, with the objective of strengthening small and cottage industries.
The rural municipality has pledged to implement programmes aimed at enhancing income-generating opportunities for women and youth.
The assembly also endorsed an Irrigation Bill and reported achieving 87.07 percent financial progress in the current fiscal year 2026/27.
