KATHMANDU: The Nepal Insurance Authority has urged policyholders and other stakeholders to file complaints against insurance companies that fail to settle claim payments or engage in irregularities during the claims process.
In a notice, the authority said complaints have been sought following allegations that some insurers, insurance employees, and surveyors acted against prevailing insurance laws, regulatory frameworks, and professional codes of conduct while determining insurance liabilities and settling claims.
The authority said complaints may be filed if any insurer, insurance employee, insurance surveyor, or any other party causes distress, prepares false details, conceals or distorts facts, conducts a biased assessment, takes undue advantage, or commits any other act against the law. It said complaints should be supported by evidence so action can be taken in accordance with the Insurance Act, 2022.
According to the notice, complaints must include the complainant’s name, address, and contact number, the name of the concerned insurance company, details of the problem, the insurance claim number and policy number, and supporting documents, photographs, videos, or other evidence.
The authority said complaints can be submitted in person at its registration branch, by email, or through the post office.
