KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party Leader Bhishma Raj Angdembe has stated that the party will play a constructive and active role as the main opposition in the House of Representatives by keeping the nation at the center.
Speaking during an interaction with parliamentary journalists at the party’s parliamentary office on Monday, Angdembe emphasized that the party’s positive role would aim to hold the ruling coalition accountable to both the parliament and the public.
He added that the Nepali Congress will take the lead in bringing all opposition parties together to prevent parliamentary committees from becoming hostages to indecision.
“As the main opposition, we have cooperated in moving forward with the daily agenda in parliament while bringing all opposition factions together to voice disagreements. We will work by raising questions, registering motions, and respecting the gravity of the committees, while playing a positive role to make the ruling side accountable to the house and the people,” Angdembe said.
During the discussion, Nepali Congress Chief Whip Basana Thapa also shared her view, stressing that the party needs to continue such interactions to enhance the effectiveness of the parliament.
