Outgoing French ambassador pays farewell call on foreign secretary

KATHMANDU: French Ambassador to Nepal Virginie Corteval paid a farewell call on Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday, as she prepares to conclude her diplomatic tenure in the country.

During the meeting, Rai thanked Corteval for her contribution to strengthening bilateral relations between Nepal and France and commended her efforts to advance cooperation in areas including mountain diplomacy, climate change, and people-to-people ties.

Corteval, a career diplomat with the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, previously served in Kathmandu from 2012 to 2015 before returning as ambassador in 2024.

The foreign secretary wished the outgoing ambassador continued success in her future assignment, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
