NEPSE up 79.74 points, turnover reaches Rs 4.575 billion

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) surged 79.74 points, or 3.06 percent, to close at 2,677.54 on Friday, the first trading day of the fiscal year 2026/27. Total turnover stood at Rs 4.575 billion.

Of the 13 trading sub-indices, 12 advanced while one declined. The Manufacturing and Processing index posted the highest gain at 4.60 percent. The Investment and Hydropower indices rose by more than 4 percent, while the Finance and Hotels and Tourism indices gained over 3 percent. The Mutual Fund index was the only sector to decline, edging down slightly.

Shreenagar Agritech Industries Limited hit the positive circuit, while Suryakunda Hydro Electric climbed about 15 percent and Shikhar Power Development gained 12.5 percent. Aatmanirbhar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha, which began trading on Friday, recorded the steepest decline, falling 15 percent.

Ankhu Khola Hydropower Company led turnover with shares worth Rs 222.3 million traded. It was followed by Corporate Development Bank Limited with transactions exceeding Rs 175 million, while Reliance Spinning Mills Limited recorded turnover of more than Rs 155 million.
