KATHMANDU: CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli has accused the government of driving the country toward fascism and authoritarianism.
Speaking at a party event in Chyasal on Friday to launch the updated UML website and mobile app, Oli criticized recent state actions as tyrannical, pointing to instances where government-backed forces obstructed media houses and suppressed public protests.
He alleged that the government is utilizing state-funded volunteer groups for political motives and deploying plainclothes personnel to attack peaceful protestors.
Warning that the executive branch has stifled parliament and seized control of state organs, Oli stressed that political parties must regain their long-term vision to break this authoritarian grip and protect the country from further division and lawlessness.
