KATHMANDU: The Meteorological Forecasting Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has warned of potential heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning in isolated parts of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces tonight, as monsoon activity continues to bring moderate downpours across six provinces.

According to meteorologists, six out of Nepal’s seven provinces—Bagmati, Gandaki, Koshi, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim—are currently experiencing active weather, with moderate rainfall reported in several locations across these regions.

Forecasts indicate that cloudy conditions will persist nationwide through Thursday, with scattered precipitation shifting across both hilly and Terai regions over the next 48 hours.

On Wednesday, heavy downpours are anticipated in one or two locations across the hilly and Terai belts of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, as well as the hilly regions of Koshi and Lumbini provinces.

By Thursday, localized heavy rain is expected to remain largely concentrated in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.

Authorities advise residents in landslide-prone hilly zones and low-lying river corridors to exercise caution and monitor local updates as wet weather conditions persist through the week.
