KATHMANDU: Nepal is currently under the influence of monsoon winds, which brought continuous rainfall across the country, including the Kathmandu Valley, over the past few days.

However, the weather in Kathmandu has cleared up since Wednesday morning compared to previous days. The persistent downpour had disrupted daily life in the capital, inundating several areas in the valley and causing roads to cave in at multiple locations.

According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, the chance of rainfall remains high due to the active monsoonal activity.

The division’s latest bulletin warns of light to moderate rainfall accompanied by lightning and thunder across the country, including Kathmandu Valley, over the next three days. Moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning is expected in many parts of the hilly and Terai regions.

Additionally, heavy rainfall is forecasted for one or two places in the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces during this period.

The division has urged residents to take necessary precautions against potential risks and damages caused by debris flows, flash floods, landslides, and soil erosion in the vulnerable regions.
