KATHMANDU: Continuous rainfall over recent days has triggered severe landslides and flash floods, crippling traffic and completely blocking key highway corridors across five provinces, according to the Nepal Police and the Department of Roads.

Severe disruptions have been reported across Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces.

In Bagmati, authorities have imposed nighttime travel bans on the BP Highway and Kanti Lokpath due to high disaster risks, while landslides have completely shut down the Araniko Highway in Sindhupalchok and the Lamasanghu–Ramechhap road in Dolakha.

Key mountain routes—including Koshi’s Mechi Highway, Gandaki’s Kaligandaki Corridor, Besisahar–Manang, and Beni–Jomsom sections, along with Karnali’s Bheri Corridor—remain completely blocked.

Meanwhile, partial one-way traffic is operational on the Mid-Hill Highway in Bhojpur and the K.I. Singh Highway in Dadeldhura.

With heavy rains forecast to persist, officials have strongly advised citizens to avoid non-essential travel and check local road conditions with police authorities before setting out.
