CHITWAN: The bird flu infection, which was confirmed in the federal capital city and other districts in the past weeks, has not been detected since July 17, the Department of Livestock Service said.

The bird flu infection was last detected on July 17 at Sundarijal in Gokarneshwor-1 in Kathmandu, and no case was confirmed since then, said Director General of the Department, Umesh Dahal.

Dahal shared that tests are being carried out by collecting samples from the nearby areas of the infected sites. “It is controlled now,” he added.

The government had declared the bird flu-affected area four months ago after the disease was confirmed in poultry farms in Morang district. Since then, 11 districts were affected from the bird flu outbreak.

According to Dahal, the bird flu outbreak was fully under control in seven districts except in the districts of the Kathmandu Valley and Kavre.

Likewise, Senior Veterinarian at the Department Dr Mukul Upadhyay said that chances of further infections are unlikely.

Likewise, the consumption of eggs and chicken has increased after the control of bird flu infection recently, stakeholders shared.
