KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle stated that the government is continuously working to remove Nepal from the ‘grey list’ by making tax administration transparent, effective, and reliable.

Addressing tax officers nationwide, he stressed the need for strict tax-side scrutiny of money laundering offenses, while reassuring officers that their career development and state contributions would be prioritized.

Emphasizing voluntary tax compliance over intimidation, Wagle urged administrators to report any resource or IT deficits needed to streamline operations, promising rewards for high performers.

He added that the current budget sets the trajectory for the country’s economic vision over the next four fiscal years, instructing departmental leadership to fully implement tax incentives, promote tax awareness, and push for digital transactions.
