KATHMANDU: Proposed Chief Election Commissioner Man Bahadur Karki and Commissioner nominees Rajiv Subba and Guru Prasad Wagle have unveiled a strategic roadmap to the Parliamentary Hearing Committee, placing diaspora voting rights at the very top of their agenda.

The proposed leadership team submitted a unified vision ahead of their confirmation hearings scheduled for July 28 and 29.

Their primary goal is to draft and implement the necessary laws to ensure that Nepalis living overseas, as well as citizens residing outside their home districts, can finally exercise their right to vote.

Beyond expanding the electorate, the plan heavily emphasizes digital modernization.

Nominee Rajiv Subba’s roadmap focuses on secure IT infrastructure, feasibility studies for electronic voting machines, and exploring internet-based voting, while nominee Guru Prasad Wagle called for introducing a formal candidate rejection option (“None of the Above”) and enforcing strict legal measures, such as deregistering political parties that persistently skip elections.
