KATHMANDU: The Madhesh Provincial Government will implement a model integrated agriculture program in 10 local units to strengthen agricultural research, technology transfer, and organic farming, Minister of Agriculture, Forest, and Environment Gita Chaudhary announced on Thursday.

Speaking at a high-level meeting on federal-provincial coordination, Chaudhary said the municipalities would be selected based on recommendations from the provincial government. The program aims to deliver research findings and modern agricultural technologies directly to farmers, boost agricultural production, and expand technical services, training, and advisory support.

She said the initiative would also prioritize organic farming to protect soil fertility, promote safe food production, and build a sustainable agricultural system. Stressing the need for closer coordination among the federal, provincial, and local governments, Chaudhary said the federal government would give priority to addressing recommendations from the province.

At the meeting, Madhesh Chief Minister Krishna Prasad Yadav pledged the provincial government’s full cooperation in implementing the program in coordination with the federal and local governments.
