KATHMANDU: On the first trading day of the week, today (Monday), the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) fell by double digits. Fluctuating throughout the day, the NEPSE index ultimately closed down by 33.28 points. Compared to the previous trading day, the turnover amount also decreased.
Decreasing by 1.21 percent compared to the previous trading day, the NEPSE stopped at 2701.32 points today.
On this day, the sensitive index also fell by 1.98 points and stopped at 471.49 points. In percentage terms, this is 0.41 percent lower compared to the previous trading day. Similarly, the float index declined by 0.99 percent and the sensitive float index dropped by 0.40 percent.
In the stock market on Monday, at least 13,925,337 shares of 360 companies were bought and sold across 69,803 transactions. Accordingly, a turnover of Rs 6.08 billion took place on Monday.

Share prices of 36 companies rose on the NEPSE today. While share prices of 234 companies declined, share prices of 5 companies remained stable. Of the 13 sub-indices traded on the NEPSE today (Monday), the indices for the Banking and Mutual Fund groups rose, while the indices for the remaining 11 groups fell.
Accordingly, on the NEPSE on Monday, the Commercial Bank group index rose by 0.10 percent. The Development Bank sub-index dropped by 1.82 percent, Finance by 0.70 percent, Hotels and Tourism by 2.22 percent, Hydropower by 1.90 percent, Investment by 0.70 percent, Life Insurance by 1.25 percent, Manufacturing and Processing by 2.30 percent, and the Microfinance group index fell by 1.27 percent.
While the mutual fund group index increased by 0.15 percent, the sub-indices for non-life insurance dropped by 1.21 percent, others by 1.69 percent, and trading by 2.23 percent.
Investors in Everest Color made gains of 14.99 percent on the NEPSE on Monday. Meanwhile, investors in Aatmanirbhar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha lost 13.38 percent in share price.
In terms of turnover amount, Reliance Spinning Mills came out on top today. A turnover of Rs 338.6 million was recorded for it on Monday.
Similarly, in terms of the number of shares traded, Global IME Bank led today. A total of 1,089,231 shares of the bank were traded on Monday. Its final trading price for today was set at Rs 255 per share.
