DHANGADHI: An eight-point draft agreement has been prepared following talks between the negotiating team representing the hunger-striking Dr. Govinda KC and the government team.

The draft has been forwarded to Prime Minister Balendra Shah and Education Minister Sasmit Pokharel for approval.

Key draft points include operating a 300-bed hospital and initiating MBBS classes at Shahid Dasharath Chand Health Sciences University within the current fiscal year, removing Registrar Dr. Bhim Bahadur Chand, retaining Vice-Chancellor Dr. Sunil Kumar Joshi, and addressing conflict-of-interest legal provisions.

Dr. KC has been on a hunger strike in Dhangadhi since July 22 demanding medical education reforms, prompt investigation of corruption cases, and enforcement of the Medical Education Act.

He is currently undergoing treatment in the ICU at Seti Provincial Hospital and is expected to break his fast once the agreement is signed.
