KATHMANDU: The foundation stone for the construction of a new building for Shree Gokuleshwor Secondary School in Shailyashikhar Municipality-9, Darchula district, was jointly laid on Monday by Basist Nandan, First Secretary at the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, and Bijay Singh Dhami, Mayor of Shailyashikhar Municipality.

The new educational facility is being constructed under the High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP) scheme with financial assistance from the Government of India, estimated at approximately Rs 75 million.

The project will be executed directly through Shailyashikhar Municipality.

This initiative marks the 11th High Impact Community Development Project undertaken with Indian assistance in the Darchula district of Sudurpaschim Province.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mayor Dhami and local stakeholders expressed their appreciation for India’s ongoing developmental support.

They noted that the upgraded infrastructure will significantly improve the learning environment for students and teachers across the municipality.

As close neighboring nations, India and Nepal share a broad, multi-sectoral development partnership.

According to the Embassy of India, the implementation of HICDPs highlights New Delhi’s continued commitment to aiding the Government of Nepal’s efforts in boosting economic growth, strengthening community-level infrastructure, and uplifting priority sectors across the country.
