Police on Wednesday arrested three persons after they seized 127 kg of marijuana hidden in the truck they were travelling on in from Manahari Rural Municipality-8 in Makawanpur district.

The arrested have been identified as truck driver Ramraj Sahani (38) of Baishal in India, Riyajul Ansari (30) of Birgunj Metropolitan City-9 in Parsa district, and 18-year-old.

They were smuggling the marijuana in an Indian truck (BRI 2839). Security personnel deployed from Makawanpur District Police Office (DPO) nabbed them with a huge cache of marijuana during a routine check of vehicles at Simpani.

The illegal drugs were found hidden in the truck’s backside false bottom.

Further investigation into the case is underway, informed the DPO.
