KATHMANDU: The Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has decided to keep the retail prices of petroleum products unchanged, despite a continuous rise in prices in the international market.

According to the corporation, petroleum prices in the international market have been rising due to the ongoing conflict in the West Asia.

Based on the new purchase rates received from the Indian Oil Corporation, prices should have been adjusted under the automated pricing system.

However, keeping the welfare of consumers in mind, the decision was made not to increase the prices, as stated by the corporation’s spokesperson, Manoj Kumar Thakur, in a press release.

The Board of Directors of the corporation, in its meeting held on May 31, decided to maintain the existing prices, effective from 00:01 AM on June 1.

Under the currently maintained rates, the price of petrol remains at Rs 214.50, Rs 216, and Rs 217 per liter for the first, second, and third categories, respectively.

Similarly, the prices for diesel and kerosene remain at Rs 222.50, Rs 224, and Rs 225 per liter, respectively.

Furthermore, the price of domestic aviation fuel has been fixed at Rs 269 per liter, while for international flights in Kathmandu, it is set at USD 1,831 per kiloliter.

The price of LP Gas (cooking gas) has been fixed at Rs 2,160 per 14.2 kg cylinder.

The corporation also mentioned in the statement that even by keeping the prices stable, it is incurring a monthly loss of approximately Rs 628.6 million.
