KATHMANDU: The government has announced a doubling of night-shift allowances for nursing staff working in public health facilities.

Presenting the federal budget for the fiscal year 2026/27, Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle said the move is aimed at improving the morale and welfare of frontline healthcare workers.

The government also pledged to upgrade burn treatment facilities at Bir Hospital and Kirtipur Hospital to strengthen emergency and specialized healthcare services for burn victims.
