KATHMANDU: On Monday, the first trading day of the week, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) decreased by 4.18 points. Dropping by 0.14 percent compared to the previous trading day, NEPSE settled at the 2,833.60 mark.

On this day, the Sensitive Index also declined by 1.49 points to stop at 476.65 points. In terms of percentage, this is 0.31 percent lower than the previous trading day. Similarly, the float index decreased by 0.20 percent, and the sensitive float index dropped by 0.41 percent.

In the share market on Monday, at least 20,163,793 unit shares of 342 companies were traded through 101,180 transactions. Accordingly, a turnover of Rs 8.665 billion was recorded on Monday.

Out of the 13 sectors traded on NEPSE today, indicators for six groups increased while the remaining seven groups declined. Accordingly, on Monday, the Commercial Bank group index fell by 0.47 percent, the Development Bank by 0.55 percent, and Finance by 0.29 percent. Similarly, the hotel and tourism index rose by 1.02 percent, hydropower by 0.66 percent, and the investment sub-index by 0.13 percent.

Furthermore, while life insurance went down by 0.46 percent, manufacturing and processing rose by 0.40 percent. Similarly, microfinance increased by 0.42 percent, mutual funds by 0.36 percent, and non-life insurance by 0.46 percent. The sub-indices for others and the trading group decreased by 1.62 percent and 0.21 percent, respectively.

On Monday, the share prices of four companies hit the positive circuit breaker on NEPSE. Those hitting the positive circuit include Super Khudi Hydropower, Suryakunda Hydro Electric Company, Hotel Forest Inn Nepal, and Palpa Cement Industries. This means investors in these four companies earned 10 percent.

In contrast, investors in Unique Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha faced a loss of 3.62 percent.

In terms of turnover amount, National Hydropower Company remained at the forefront. Today, a turnover of Rs 931.9 million was recorded for National Hydropower.

Similarly, in terms of the number of shares traded, National Hydropower was also the leader today. At least 2,854,266 unit shares of National Hydropower were bought and sold on Monday. Its final trading price was maintained at Rs 331 per unit.
