KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) decreased by a single digit on the second trading day of the week, Tuesday. Along with the NEPSE, the trading volume also declined.
The NEPSE dropped by 9.24 points on Tuesday. On Monday, it had increased by 28.85 points. Decreasing by 0.33 percent compared to the previous trading day, the NEPSE closed at 2,777.10 points.
On Tuesday, the Sensitive Index also fell by 1.45 points to close at 474.29 points. In terms of percentage, this is 0.30 percent lower compared to the previous trading day. Similarly, the Float Index decreased by 0.36 percent and the Sensitive Float Index dropped by 0.32 percent.
In the stock market on Tuesday, at least 11,872,507 shares of 342 companies were bought and sold 52,751 times. Accordingly, a turnover of Rs 4.854 billion was recorded on Tuesday. On Monday, the turnover stood at Rs 5.986 billion.

The share prices of only 69 companies increased in the stock market on Tuesday. While the share prices of 190 companies declined, the share prices of 11 companies remained stable. Out of the 13 sub-indices traded on the NEPSE on Tuesday, the indices of the Mutual Fund and Non-Life Insurance groups increased, while the indices of the remaining 11 groups decreased.
Accordingly, on Tuesday, commercial banks decreased by 0.24 percent, development banks by 0.48 percent, finance by 0.44 percent, hotels and tourism by 0.05 percent, hydropower by 0.38 percent, investment by 0.69 percent, life insurance by 0.53 percent, manufacturing and processing by 0.47 percent, and the microfinance group index decreased by 0.56 percent.
Similarly, the Mutual Fund sub-index increased by 0.25 percent and the Non-Life Insurance group index rose by 0.35 percent. Meanwhile, the Others sub-index fell by 0.06 percent and the Trading group sub-index decreased by 0.12 percent.
On the NEPSE on Tuesday, investors of Kalinchowk Hydropower earned 9.23 percent. Conversely, investors of Super Khudi Hydropower lost 3.60 percent of their share value.
In terms of turnover amount, Ankhu Khola Hydropower Company remained at the forefront on Tuesday as well. A turnover of Rs 467.2 million was recorded for Ankhu Khola on Tuesday. On Monday, Ankhu Khola had a turnover of Rs 602 million.
Similarly, Ankhu Khola also led in terms of the number of shares traded. On Tuesday, at least 1,118,022 shares of the company were bought and sold. Its final trading price stood at Rs 422 per share. On Monday, 1,451,995 shares of the company had been bought and sold.
