KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) decreased by a marginal number of points today, Wednesday (today), the third trading day of the week. Along with the decline in NEPSE, the turnover amount also decreased. Today, NEPSE dropped by 1.64 points. Compared to the previous trading day, NEPSE fell by 0.06 percent to settle at 2,711.22 points. However, the sensitive index rose by 0.80 points to stop at 463.12 points. On a percentage basis, this is 0.17 percent higher than the previous trading day. Similarly, the float index remained at 0.00, and the sensitive float index increased by 0.15 percent.
On Wednesday, at least 7,113,557 shares of 336 companies were traded 47,814 times in the share market. Accordingly, the turnover on Wednesday was Rs 3.197 billion. On Tuesday, the turnover was Rs 3.439 billion. NEPSE remained closed on Monday due to a public holiday.

The share prices of 104 companies increased in the share market today. While the share prices of 149 companies trended downward, the share prices of 15 companies remained stable. Out of 13 groups traded on NEPSE today, the sub-indices of eight groups increased, while the sub-indices of the remaining five groups decreased.
According to the data, the index of the Commercial Bank group increased by 0.16 percent, while the index of the Development Bank group decreased by 0.51 percent. Similarly, the sub-indices of finance rose by 0.19 percent and hotel and tourism by 0.22 percent. The sub-index of the hydropower group decreased by 0.43 percent, while the sub-index of the investment group increased by 0.40 percent.
Furthermore, the sub-indices of life insurance decreased by 0.32 percent and manufacturing and processing by 0.56 percent. Microfinance increased by 0.48 percent, Mutual Fund by 0.80 percent, non-life insurance by 0.19 percent, and others by 0.03 percent, while the sub-index of the trading group decreased by 0.25 percent.
On Wednesday, investors of Forward Microfinance Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha earned 13.74 percent on NEPSE. Conversely, investors of Bhagawati Hydropower Development Company lost 9.90 percent in share value.
In terms of turnover amount, Solu Hydropower remained at the top. Solu was also the leader in turnover on the previous trading day. On Wednesday, Solu had a turnover of Rs 221.1 million. On Tuesday, the turnover was Rs 235.7 million.
Similarly, in terms of the number of shares traded, National Hydropower Company remained at the forefront today as well. On Tuesday, at least 404,133 shares of this company were traded. Today, Wednesday, the National saw trades of 513,163 shares. Its final trading price was maintained at Rs 276 per share.
