KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) increased by a single digit on the fourth trading day of the week today, Thursday. Fluctuating throughout the day, the index finally closed up by 7.50 points.

Increasing by 0.28 percent compared to the previous trading day, the index stopped at 2,597.80 points.

On this day, the Sensitive Index also rose by 2.92 points to close at 456.86 points. Percentage-wise, this is 0.64 percent higher compared to the previous trading day. Similarly, the float index increased by 0.34 percent and the sensitive float index by 0.60 percent.

In the stock market on Thursday, at least 9,469,099 shares of 371 companies were bought and sold 39,595 times. Accordingly, a transaction of Rs 4.562 billion took place on Thursday.

The share prices of 121 companies rose on the index today. While the share prices of 151 companies declined, the share prices of three companies remained stable. Out of the 13 groups traded on the index today, Thursday, the indices of nine groups increased while the indices of four groups decreased.

Accordingly, the indices of the Commercial Bank and Development Bank groups rose by 0.62 percent and 0.08 percent, respectively, on Thursday. Finance decreased by 0.66 percent, hotels and tourism by 0.09 percent, and hydropower by 0.34 percent.

Similarly, while the Investment and Life Insurance group indices rose by 0.12 percent and 0.25 percent, the Manufacturing and Processing group index decreased by 0.11 percent.

Likewise, microfinance increased by 1.23 percent, mutual funds by 1.66 percent, non-life insurance by 1.11 percent, others by 0.31 percent, and the trading sub-index by 0.32 percent.

On the index on Thursday, investors of the NIBL Growth Fund (mutual fund) earned 14.96 percent. Meanwhile, investors of the Corporate Development Bank lost 8.77 percent in share value.

In terms of transaction amount, Singati Hydro Energy stood at the forefront today. A transaction of Rs 247.4 million of the company took place on Thursday.

Similarly, Singati was also ahead in terms of the number of shares traded today. On Thursday, at least 821,873 shares of the company were traded. Its last trading price today was maintained at Rs 303 per share.
