NEPSE surges by 33.27 points, turnover exceeds Rs 10 billion

KATHMANDU: On Wednesday, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) increased by 33.27 points. Rising by 1.17 percent compared to the previous trading day, NEPSE settled at the 2,866.87 mark.

On this day, the Sensitive Index also increased by 5.22 points to stop at 481.87 points. In terms of percentage, that is 1.09 percent higher than the previous trading day. Similarly, the float index rose by 1.11 percent, and the Sensitive Float Index increased by 1.02 percent.

In the share market on Wednesday, 26,438,521 unit shares of 344 companies were traded through 123,359 transactions. Accordingly, a turnover of Rs 10.537 billion was recorded on Wednesday. On Monday, a turnover of Rs 8.665 billion was recorded. Due to the public holiday for New Year, there was no trading on NEPSE on Tuesday.

Out of the 13 sectors traded on NEPSE today, all group indicators increased, spreading “greenery” across the board. Accordingly, on Wednesday, the Commercial Bank group index rose by 1.30 percent, the Development Bank by 1.53 percent, Finance by 1.21 percent, Hotel and Tourism by 3.16 percent, Hydropower by 2.14 percent, the Investment group by 0.89 percent, and Life Insurance by 0.46 percent.

Similarly, Manufacturing and Processing increased by 0.11 percent, Microfinance by 0.64 percent, Mutual Fund by 0.56 percent, Non-Life Insurance by 0.39 percent, Others by 0.11 percent, and the Trading group sub-index by 2.33 percent.

On Wednesday, the share prices of five companies hit the positive circuit breaker on NEPSE. Those hitting the positive circuit include Ridgeline Energy, Suryakunda Hydro Electric Company, Hotel Forest Inn Nepal, Sindhu Bikash Bank, and Palpa Cement Industries. This means investors in these five companies earned 10 percent.

In contrast, investors in Reliance Spinning Mills Limited (Reliance Spinning Mills Limited) faced a loss of 5.61 percent.

In terms of turnover amount, Shivam Cements remained at the forefront. Today, a turnover of Rs 580.9 million was recorded for Shivam.

Similarly, in terms of the number of shares traded, National Hydropower Company was the leader today. At least 1,728,398 unit shares of National Hydropower were bought and sold on Wednesday. Its final trading price was maintained at Rs 324 per unit.
