RASUWAGADHI: The movement of public cargo vehicles has been suspended for two days at the Miteri Bridge, located at the Rasuwagadhi border point along Nepal’s northern border.

Following a flood in the Lhende Khola on July 8 last year that washed away the permanent concrete bridge, a temporary Bailey bridge was installed to restore immediate operations.

Rajesh Panthi, the Chief District Officer (CDO) of Rasuwa, informed that vehicle operations have been halted today and tomorrow to test whether the Bailey bridge can safely withstand vehicle traffic during the upcoming monsoon season.

CDO Panthi clarified that local residents and pilgrims traveling to Kailash Manasarovar will face no disruptions or inconveniences in their movement.

It has been reported that Chinese security personnel have only restricted the movement of freight vehicles entering Kerung from Nepal and vice versa.

Inspector Bikram Kunwar of the Area Police Office, Timure, stated that regular vehicle operations will resume as usual once the technical inspection of the bridge is completed.
