KATHMANDU: The government has introduced a new online service to facilitate Indian tourists and other foreign visitors entering Nepal via India.
The Department of Customs under the Ministry of Finance has developed and brought into operation a system that allows foreign vehicles entering Nepal through land routes to fill in their details and pay revenue online. Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle inaugurated the system on Tuesday.
With the implementation of this new system, Indian tourists and third-country visitors entering Nepal with vehicles can now submit their details and pay the required fees online.
Previously, such vehicles had to physically obtain temporary permits at customs checkpoints.
Additionally, if their travel duration expired while in Nepal, they were required to return to customs points for renewal or face penalties.
With the launch of the new online system, tourists can now complete vehicle permit formalities and payments from home, allowing them to travel in Nepal without hassle.
Speaking at the launch, Finance Minister Dr. Wagle said the difficulties faced by tourists at border points would now be eliminated.
