Four arrested with marijuana and Brown Sugar

JHAPA: Nepal Police have arrested four individuals in possession of over five kilograms of marijuana and more than 14 grams of brown sugar from different locations in Jhapa district.

According to Suman Baniya, the Acting Information Officer for the District Police Office, Jhapa, a police team deployed from the Area Police Office, Anarmani, acting on a special tip-off, recovered 5 kilograms and 90 grams of marijuana from a house located in Birtamod Municipality–4.

During the raid, police arrested 30-year-old Binod Magar of Arjundhara Municipality–7 and 20-year-old Sagar Rai of Hatuwagadhi Rural Municipality–4, Bhojpur, for their alleged involvement in the illicit drug trade.

Meanwhile, police arrested two other individuals with brown sugar from the Taghandubba area in Jhapa Rural Municipality–4.

A police team deployed from the Taghandubba Police Post on Tuesday grew suspicious of individuals walking from India towards Nepal. Upon conducting a security check, the team recovered 6 grams and 1 milligram of brown sugar from 32-year-old Suraj Rai, a resident of Damak Municipality–10.

Similarly, police recovered a substance resembling brown sugar, weighing 8 grams and 70 milligrams, from 42-year-old Baburam Darjee of Biratnagar Metropolitan City–3, Morang. Both individuals have been brought to the District Police Office, Jhapa, for further investigation.
