KATHMANDU: Two youths have been arrested on charges of defrauding victims of Rs 3.9 million by promising attractive salary packages in foreign employment.
According to the Central Police News Desk, Saroj Panta from Kavre and Anil Khatri from Ramechhap were arrested on Saturday on fraud charges.
Panta allegedly swindled Rs 1.6 million from an unemployed youth by promising to send him to Ireland, while Khatri extorted Rs 2.3 million from six individuals under the pretext of sending them to Dubai. Both accused have been sent to the Department of Foreign Employment for further legal action.
Meanwhile, regular police patrol teams have arrested 17 individuals with illegal drugs from various districts, including Kathmandu, Morang, Parsa, Bhaktapur, Kailali, Gorkha, Sunsari, Banke, Palpa, and Jhapa.
