ABU DHABI: The Embassy of Nepal in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has conducted an interaction program on labor awareness and safe employment targeting Nepali workers employed in Abu Dhabi.
The program, held at the embassy premises, saw participation from Nepali workers employed in various companies across the UAE. During the event, the embassy’s Labor Attaché Pankaj Labh Karn delivered a presentation on workers’ rights and safety issues.
He informed participants about workplace regulations, precautions to be adopted during foreign employment, renewal of labor permits, the use of the Social Security Fund, and facilities provided by the Government of Nepal for Nepalis working abroad.
Workers were also urged to safely keep personal documents such as passports, Emirates IDs, and labor identity cards, and to remain cautious against cybercrime and financial fraud.
The program also shared information that applications related to search and rescue, management, compensation, and worker assistance abroad can be registered through the online system operated by the Consular Service Department of the Government of Nepal.
Embassy Third Secretary Bimalesh Kumar Mishra briefed participants on passport and consular services. Workers attending the event stressed the need for such awareness programs to be conducted regularly.
Participants also expressed the view that the Government of Nepal should take further initiatives to ensure minimum wages, implementation of labor standards, and the protection and recognition of the labor, skills, and contributions of Nepali migrant workers abroad.
The program additionally provided practical first-aid training on how to respond to emergencies in daily life and workplaces.
Nepal’s Ambassador to the UAE Tej Bahadur Chhetri and other diplomatic staff of the embassy were also present at the event.
