SAN FRANCISO: A “Nepal Festival” has been organised in San Francisco, California, to promote Nepal’s art, culture, and heritage internationally.
The event was jointly organised by the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) California and other Nepali organisations, with participation from communities across the United States, including Los Angeles, San Diego, Sacramento, Bakersfield, and Long Beach.
The Nepal Day Parade ran from San Francisco City Hall to Embarcadero Plaza, covering about 1.6 miles, with Market Street closed to traffic for the event.
The festival featured traditional costumes, cultural performances, and dances such as Panchakanya, Panché Baja, Kumari, Dhime, and Lakhe, turning the area into a “mini Nepal.”
Local American residents and officials, including diplomats and Bay Area leaders, also attended.
NRNA California Secretary Kailash K.C. said the event successfully showcased Nepal’s cultural identity on an international stage.
