SYDNEY: The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Australia has officially expressed its full support for the policies and programmes announced by the Government of Nepal for the fiscal year 2026/27.

Representing thousands of people of Nepali origin living across Australia, NRNA Australia said it was particularly encouraged by the special priority the government has given to Non-Resident Nepalis (NRNs) and the broader Nepali diaspora.

The association welcomed government commitment to mobilize the capital, skills, experience, and technology of Nepalis living abroad to support Nepal’s development.

NRNA Australia said this commitment sends a positive and encouraging message to Nepali communities around the world.

The organization also praised the government’s proposed reforms in Nepal’s capital market, including the restructuring of the Nepal Stock Exchange and its clearing system, as well as plans to expand insurance, pension funds, mutual funds, and investment opportunities for NRNs.

According to NRNA Australia, additional initiatives such as the Diaspora Expert Network, Knowledge Bank, legal protections for NRN investments, simplified access to financial services, and a reliable mechanism for repatriating profits have generated renewed optimism among Nepalis living overseas.

“These policies have created new hope within the global Nepali community,” the association said in a statement.

NRNA Australia stressed that the government must now move beyond policy announcements and ensure effective implementation. It noted that similar commitments had been made in the past, but many were not backed by the necessary legal reforms and institutional action.

Despite those past challenges, the association said it remains optimistic that this time the government will take meaningful steps to deliver on its promises.

NRNA Australia stated that the Nepali diaspora in Australia is ready to provide full cooperation through investment, knowledge transfer, and strategic partnerships to help build a more prosperous Nepal.

The association also urged the government to ensure timely execution, transparent legal frameworks, and strong institutional mechanisms that allow diaspora engagement without unnecessary administrative hurdles.

NRNA Australia said the announcement has energized its members and strengthened their shared vision of a Nepal where every Nepali, regardless of where they live, can contribute to and benefit from the country’s development.

The association said it looks forward to working closely with the Government of Nepal to turn this vision into reality.
