KATHMANDU: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephone conversation with Rabi Lamichhane and senior Rastriya Swatantra Party leader Balendra Shah on Monday, describing the exchange as “warm and cordial.”
Following the call, Modi said he congratulated the two leaders on the RSP’s victory in the election and extended his best wishes for the formation of the new government.
“I congratulated both leaders on the RSP’s victory in the election,” Modi wrote on social media after the conversation. “I also extended my best wishes for the formation of the new government and reaffirmed the commitment of the Government of India to work together for shared progress, prosperity, and the welfare of the people.”
The Indian prime minister also expressed confidence that relations between India and Nepal would reach a higher level in the coming years through joint efforts by the two countries.
