US Chargé d’Affaires pays courtesy call on Vice President

KATHMANDU: Scott Urbom, the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the United States in Nepal, paid a courtesy call on Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav.

During the meeting held on Thursday at the Vice President’s Office in Lainchaur, various dimensions of bilateral relations between Nepal and the United States were discussed. Vice President Yadav stated that since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1947, the relationship between Nepal and the US has remained close, cordial, and cooperative, built on the foundations of mutual respect, shared understanding, developmental cooperation, and deep people-to-people ties.

He noted that Nepal has always attached high importance to its relations with the US, respecting the shared values of democracy, human rights, and freedom. He also expressed his gratitude for the support the US has provided over decades toward Nepal’s socio-economic development.

Vice President Yadav expressed belief that the upcoming 80th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and the US, to be celebrated next year, will serve as a significant milestone reflecting the long-standing friendship and partnership between the two nations.

He added that he remains confident that the US will continue its valuable support and cooperation for Nepal’s development in the days ahead. Additionally, Vice President Yadav extended congratulations and best wishes to the US government and its citizens on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the US Declaration of Independence.

During the meeting, US Chargé d’Affaires Scott Urbom highlighted that the relationship between Nepal and the US is long-standing, historic, and multi-dimensional. He expressed America’s keen interest in elevating these ties to an even higher level.

According to the Vice President’s Secretariat, Urbom reaffirmed America’s continued commitment to supporting Nepal and expressed satisfaction with the smooth and effective implementation of ongoing US projects in the country.
