BIRGUNJ: A large number of doctors at Narayani Hospital have submitted their resignations, intensifying a dispute triggered by last week’s attack on medical staff and vandalism at the hospital.

Hospital sources said around 40 of the hospital’s nearly 70 doctors had submitted resignation letters by Tuesday, while the remaining doctors were also preparing to follow suit. The resignations were submitted to Medical Superintendent Dr. Chhitta Ranjan Sah.

The doctors are demanding the resignation of the Parsa Chief District Officer and the district police chief, accusing the local administration of mistreating them during discussions held after the attack.

The protest has disrupted hospital services, with emergency care also affected. Doctors said they had agreed to continue emergency services after the Health Ministry assured them that those involved in the assault would be arrested. However, they alleged that talks at the District Administration Office turned confrontational, prompting the decision to resign collectively.
