DUBAI: The UAE said it intercepted Iranian missiles over its territorial waters, as fresh cross-border claims of attacks and maritime incidents intensified tensions involving Iran, the US, and regional allies.

The UAE Defence Ministry said it shot down three missiles launched from Iran, with a fourth falling into the sea.

Authorities also reported a cargo vessel near Dubai suffered an engine room fire, according to UK Maritime Trade Operations.

Iran’s IRGC claimed it fired missiles at a US warship, but the US military denied the claim, saying its vessels passed safely through the region. Both sides rejected each other’s accounts.

The UAE also accused Iran of targeting an ADNOC-linked tanker in the Strait of Hormuz, calling it “maritime piracy,” according to senior official Anwar Gargash.

In parallel developments, Israel issued evacuation warnings for six villages in southern Lebanon, while Lebanon’s Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri said talks with Israel are not possible until strikes stop, despite an April 17 ceasefire.
