WASHINGTON DC: US President Donald Trump has said he will soon review a 14-point peace proposal sent by Iran, though he expressed doubt that a deal can be reached.

The Iranian plan reportedly seeks guarantees of non-aggression, an end to hostilities across multiple fronts including Lebanon, the lifting of a naval blockade, and broader de-escalation measures.

Tensions also remain high around the Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil shipping route between Iran and the UAE/Oman, after disputes over control and passage in the strategic waterway.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has said it is on standby for a possible return to war with the United States, warning that renewed conflict is “likely” and accusing Washington of failing to honor agreements.

At the same time, Israeli strikes continue in Lebanon, where several people have been killed and a Catholic convent in Yaroun damaged.

The death toll in Lebanon since March 2 has reached 2,659 amid ongoing violence across the region.
