Government issues final 35-day notice for landless settlers to apply for land

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, through the Land Problem Resolution Commission in Tahachal, Kathmandu, has issued a final 35-day public notice urging landless Dalits, landless settlers and unorganized settlers across designated local units to submit applications for official land distribution and land management.

Originally published on July 20, 2026, the notice establishes a firm deadline of August 23, 2026.

Eligible applicants must fill out the prescribed forms and submit them through deployed data enumerators at designated ward-level collection centers.

Commission officials emphasized that for local levels receiving their second data collection notification, this serves as the definitive final call for claims.

The notice covers specific jurisdictions across six provinces. In Koshi Province, it applies to the Tapli and Limchungbung rural municipalities in Udayapur, Gadhi in Sunsari, and Barahapokhari and Jante Dhunga in Khotang.

Madhesh Province includes Bhagwanpur, Laxmipur Patari, Sukhipur, Bariyarpatti, and Sakhuwanankarkatti in Siraha; Ramnagar, Malangwa, Kaidena, Balara, Bishnu, Godaita, and Dhankaul in Sarlahi; alongside Simroungadh, Parwanipur, Devtal, Bishrampur, Karaiyamai, and Kalaiya Sub-Metropolitan City (first notice) in Bara.

Bagmati Province covers Gosaikunda in Rasuwa, Panchpokhari Thangpal in Sindhupalchok, and Ichchhakamana in Chitwan.

In Gandaki Province, the call extends to Barpak Sulikot and Shahid Lakhan in Gorkha; Paiyu, Phalewas, and Bihadi in Parbat; Naso, Narpa Bhumi, Chame, and Manang Ngisyang in Manang; Nisikhola in Baglung; Mangala, Raghuganga, Malika, Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and Beni Municipality in Myagdi; Lo-Ghekar Damodarkunda, Lo-Manthang, Thasang, Baragung Muktichhetra, and Gharapjhong in Mustang; and Putalibazar, Arjun Chaupari, Bhirkot, Biruwa, Harinas, Kaligandaki, and Aandhikhola in Syangja.

In Lumbini Province, the notice applies to Duduwa Rural Municipality in Banke, while in Karnali Province, it targets Barekot, Shivalaya, and Junichande in Jajarkot, as well as Chharka Tangsong, Tripura Sundari, Shey-Phoksundo, Dolpo Buddha, Kaike, Mudkechula, and Jagadulla in Dolpa.
