JANAKPUR: The government has issued a seven-day ultimatum to remove encroached structures built on various ponds and pond embankments under the Raj Guthi (state trust) within Janakpur Sub-Metropolitan City.
The Implementation Committee for the High-Level Task Force Report-2005 on the Protection and Management of Guthi Land issued a public notice directing the removal of unauthorized structures and encroachments around water bodies and their embankments, including Bishahara Pokhari, Dasharath Talao, Argaza Sar, Ratna Sagar Pokhari, Murali Sar, Dirghika Sar, and Goddhoia Pokhari.
According to the committee, various individuals and organizations have been found unlawfully constructing and utilizing structures on the trust’s ponds and their surrounding banks.
The committee stated that the notice was issued with the objective of protecting public property and Guthi land.
The notice warns that if the encroachments are not removed within the stipulated timeframe, legal action will be initiated in accordance with prevailing laws.
The Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, and Federal Affairs and General Administration has intensified the implementation of reports from past commissions and task forces.
In line with this, the ministry stated that it has advanced the protection of encroached Guthi land, ponds, and public property in the Janakpur area.
