KATHMANDU: Continuous heavy rainfall across Nepal has triggered widespread floods and landslides, blocking or disrupting traffic on several major highways in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces.
According to Nepal Police, Koshi’s Mechi Highway and Siddhicharan Highway are completely blocked by landslides, with only one-way traffic passing through the Mid-Hill Highway in Bhojpur.
In Bagmati Province, the Kanti Highway and Araniko Highway are entirely obstructed, while Kavre’s BP Highway has been closed as a safety precaution against imminent flooding.
In Lumbini, the Saljhandi-Dhorpatan road remains completely blocked, and traffic on the Kaligandaki Corridor has been limited to a single lane.
Similarly, landslides have restricted key roads in Kaski, Baglung, and Jajarkot to one-way traffic only.
