GANDAKI: All the 11 districts of Gandaki province have been recorded as districts with full vaccination assurance and sustainability.

The Provincial Public Health Centre stated that just recently, on July 9, Nawalpur was declared a district with full vaccination coverage and sustainability.

Centre’s vaccine officer Ek Narayan Lamsal said that Gandaki province will soon be declared a province with complete vaccine coverage and sustainability.

He said that once children from birth to 23 months old receive all the necessary vaccines in the district, the district is declared as achieving full vaccination coverage and sustainability.

Every year, the month of Baisakh is declared as vaccination month and a ‘Search and Vaccinate’ campaign is run so that no child is deprived of vaccines. Governments at all three levels have been giving priority to the vaccination programme.

According to vaccination officer Lamsal, the full vaccination campaign is helping to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates.

The province’s Health Ministry has said that nearly 25,000 children of the designated age group in the province have been brought under regular vaccination coverage.
