Agricultural tools distributed to farmers at subsidized rate

NAWALPARASI: Devchuli Municipality of Nawalpur district has distributed agricultural tools worth Rs 9.2 million at subsidized rate.

Chief of Agricultural Development Section at the local level, Gagan Bhattarai, informed that modern agricultural tools were handed over to the farmers in a bid to increase production.

The assistance was provided through the Agricultural Innovation Promotion Partnership Project. According to Bhattarai, the agricultural tools were distributed at fifty percent discount. More than 13 farmer groups, over 70 entrepreneurs and commercial farmers received the assistance.

The agricultural tools were distributed based on farmers’ needs and demands. The Municipality has 30 hand tractors of 6-Hz, 28 hand tractors of 7-Hz, seven paddy harvesting machines, 21 maze planting machines (jab planters), four push seeders, 10 corn threshers, six grinding machines, one dehuller, one weighing machine, one paddy and wheat harvester, one threshing combine harvester and a trailer.

The Agriculture Development Section added that hand tractors were distributed, targeting the farmers in hilly areas where it is difficult to operate large tractors.
