KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Court has ordered the retrieval of evidence documents in the high-profile fake Bhutanese refugee scam case.

A bench led by Judge Khimananda Bhusal issued the order on Tuesday during a hearing in the case involving former Home Minister Balkrishna Khand, CPN (UML) leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, and other high-ranking officials.

The court directed that the evidence files be brought in preparation for the final hearing of the case, which alleges that an organized network was formed to falsely present Nepali citizens as Bhutanese refugees.

The case involves charges of forgery, fraud, organized crime, and crimes against the state against 30 individuals, including Rayamajhi, Khand, former Home Secretary Tek Narayan Pandey, former lawmaker Angtawa Sherpa, Indrajit Rai (security advisor to former Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa, Keshav Dulal, Sanu Bhandari, and Sandesh Sharma.
