NUWAKOT: Minister for Information and Communications Dr.Bikram Timilsina has stated that the innovative actions taken by the government in its short period since formation have reignited hope among the general public.

Addressing the first convention of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Likhu Rural Municipality at Likhu-6, Chhahare today, he said that the improvements made in public service delivery and social justice through government actions—keeping the nation and people at the center—have been creating a positive impact.

“The current government is working honestly and in a planned manner, keeping the people at the center of the responsibility given to them by the mandate,” he said. “In the responsibility received to work for five years, the government has set specific targets for what to achieve in 100 days, six months, one year, and ultimately five years. As we move forward by fulfilling these goals, a tangible change will be felt in the country within five years.”

Communications Minister Timilsina clarified that the government remains committed to freeing state bodies and public service delivery from the grip of middlemen who controlled them in the past and committed injustices against the people. He added that the actions taken in the short period since the government’s formation have led to reforms that bring relief even to common citizens.

“Today’s citizens are highly conscious about the country’s development and transformation. The government is working to bring about positive changes in line with the aspirations and sentiments of the people. There is no bigger priority for the government than the country and its people,” Minister Timilsina said. He urged everyone to remain optimistic that change will happen, stating that the government is working day and night to resolve long-standing issues, end the disillusionment among youth, and bring smiles to the faces of the citizens.

He also informed that under the Ministry of Communications, he has been working in a planned manner to provide relief to the public through innovative works in entities like Nepal Telecom and the Postal Service. He assured that the current government will succeed in bringing smiles to the faces of the people by making them feel the change through creative work over the next five years.

Furthermore, he stated that the budget being prepared for the upcoming fiscal year will incorporate innovative plans and programs that directly benefit the public. Mentioning that past budgets were dominated by political influence and power play, he noted that the upcoming year’s budget will reflect a ‘new vision’ for national development in line with social justice, public demand, and government goals. He shared that the government is preparing a budget that represents marginalized classes, communities, and regions, thereby ending the compulsion of having to knock on the doors of political parties, leaders, lawmakers, and ministers for project allocations.

He advised the party rank and file to practice politics by keeping the public at the center. Suggesting that the selection of the new leadership be decided in a cordial environment, he cautioned everyone to move forward keeping in mind that the current politics is at a new turning point. “For a long time in the country, politics was used as a moneymaking tool, a medium to secure jobs for one’s own people, and operated according to the whims of influential individuals,” he said. “The politics of RSP is a medium to serve the people. It is a tool to reach a responsibility; it should not be taken as the ultimate goal.”

Stating that RSP views politics as an instrument to guide the country and its people to a secure destination, he reminded that individuals joining the party and holding responsibilities must work with public service at the core. Minister Timilsina requested everyone not to view positions as personal achievements but as political responsibilities to drive the organization forward, reform the deteriorating politics of the past, and focus on preparing for the upcoming local level elections.

He suggested that during the ongoing elections at various tiers of the party, instead of focusing on obtaining a post, members should view it as their responsibility toward nation-building and select the new leadership in a harmonious atmosphere.
