CHITWAN: Two-way traffic has fully resumed along the vital Narayangadh–Muglin road section following nearly four and a half hours of disruption caused by a dry landslide on Tuesday morning.

The obstruction occurred when dry earth and rocks tumbled from an unstable slope roughly 40 meters above the road near Khahare Khola in Icchakamana Rural Municipality-7—about 700 meters from Muglin Bazaar toward Narayangadh.

The rockfall covered a 20-meter stretch of the arterial route, halting major traffic during peak morning hours.

Initial clearance operations faced significant challenges due to continuous falling debris.

Engineer Arjun Ghimire from the Division Road Office noted that workers first managed to clear enough debris earlier in the morning to allow emergency and light vehicles to pass safely via one-way traffic.

According to a notice from Road Division Bharatpur, three heavy machines were deployed to clear the remaining rocks.

With the debris fully removed, two-way vehicular movement was successfully restored within 4.5 hours of the incident.

Despite the road being cleared, authorities warn that because the landslide originated from a newly unstable hill, the location poses an ongoing hazard for further landslides, particularly with the monsoon season approaching.

Passengers and motorists are advised to exercise caution when traveling along the stretch.
