KATHMANDU: President Ramchandra Paudel and Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav have extended their heartfelt wishes to all Nepalis on the occasion of the National Day for the Elimination of Caste Discrimination and Untouchability, 2026, calling for collective commitment to building a just and inclusive nation.
Issuing a message on Thursday, President Paudel expressed his wishes for peace, prosperity, happiness, and social harmony across the country.
He emphasized that the day should serve as an inspiration to protect human dignity, equality, and social justice while working toward a non-discriminatory and civilized society.
Similarly, Vice President Yadav stressed that a discrimination-free society is the core foundation for building a prosperous Nepal.
While noting that the Constitution of Nepal guarantees equal rights and defines caste-based discrimination as a punishable offense, Yadav highlighted that legislation alone is insufficient.
He urged all stakeholders to remain vigilant, stating that social awareness, cultural transformation, education, and civic activism are equally essential to eradicating the deep-rooted malpractice.
