KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has issued an interim order to immediately freeze the operations of the government’s newly formed Property Inquiry Commission.

Citing serious constitutional concerns, a joint bench of judges Tek Prasad Dhungana and Shreekanta Paudel directed the commission—tasked with probing high-ranking officials’ wealth since 2006—to stop demanding asset details.

They also ruled that continuing operations of the commission before a final verdict could cause irreparable harm to individual privacy rights and conflicts with the jurisdiction of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA).
