HETAUDA: Today’s meeting passed the Provincial Appropriation Bill 2026 and the Provincial Finance Bill 2026 by a majority.
In the meeting, the Province’s Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning, Prabhat Tamang, presented a proposal requesting that the Provincial Appropriation Bill 2026 be passed.
The meeting rejected, by a majority vote, the expenditure-cut proposals presented by Provincial Assembly members Ishwar Sapkota, Srijana Sainju, and Ratna Prasad Dhakal regarding the allocated budget for the government’s fiscal year 2026/27.
Furthermore, during the meeting, Economic Affairs and Planning Minister Tamang presented a proposal to consider the Provincial Finance Bill 2026.
Only the theoretical aspects of the Provincial Finance Bill 2026 were discussed.
Participating in the discussion on the bill, Srijana Sainju, Ratna Prasad Dhakal, and Nuraj Bajracharya suggested that the process should be amended, arguing that the goverment’s measures would increase the tax burden on consumers in the transport sector for services like license renewals and other facilities.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Tamang responded to the questions raised during the discussion, stating that the legal tax bracket could be adjusted and certain amounts could be increased to run the state, which would ultimately provide additional facilities and expansion of services to ordinary citizens.
Chief Minister Indra Bahadur Baniya and various other ministers answered the questions raised during the discussion regarding their respective ministries.
Deputy Speaker of the Provincial Assembly, Apsara Chapagain, adjourned today’s meeting until further notice.
