KATHMANDU: On Monday, the Council of Ministers passed four major administrative and policy decisions spanning infrastructure, agriculture, accountability, and civil aviation.

Government Spokesperson and Minister for Education, Sasmit Pokharel, announced that a central highlight of the meeting was the formal appointment of Joint Secretary Mukesh Dangol as the new Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN).

According to Minister Pokharel, the executive decisions touched upon various portfolios, including the Ministry of Finance, aiming to address pressing economic and developmental timelines.

Among the key diplomatic and economic outcomes, the Cabinet officially approved a letter of reply to be dispatched to the Government of China, greenlighting the implementation of the cross-border Chilime-Kerung electricity transmission line project.

On the domestic front, the government set the minimum support price for the upcoming fiscal year 2026/27 monsoon paddy crop, fixing coarse paddy at Rs 3,660 per quintal and medium paddy at Rs 3,860 per quintal to safeguard farmers’ interests.

Additionally, in a move toward financial transparency, the Cabinet resolved to publicly release the comprehensive report submitted by the Commission of Inquiry on Malpractices in Cooperatives, 2026, alongside finalizing Mukesh Dangol’s leadership role at CAAN.
