KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Balendra (Balen) Shah stated in parliament on Sunday that while discourse on socialism and communism is appealing, practical implementation is difficult, emphasizing that the country currently needs fiscal revenue over ideology.

Responding to opposition NCP lawmaker Pramesh Hamal regarding Nepal’s graduation to developing nation status, PM Shah underscored a focus on export-oriented production.

“Our attention is on boosting exports and generating wealth,” the Prime Minister said.

PM Shah added that the government is capitalizing on international tax exemptions to scale trade, stating, “Right now, the country needs revenue, and our focus is on growing that wealth.”
